Name: Win Ho Job title: Area Sales Manager Time at BIOHIT HealthCare Ltd: 7 years Education and Experience: I studied a BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Birmingham. I followed this up with a PhD, also in Biochemistry, at the University of York before starting my sales career at a liquid handling technology company. My passion for working in sales grew from there, and I’ve worked in roles across medical diagnostics and molecular biology markets. This is how I was introduced to the diagnostics industry, and I became Sales Manager at BIOHIT HealthCare at the beginning of 2017. What does a day in the life of Win entail? I’m responsible for a variety of different tasks in my role, and overseeing the sales operations for BIOHIT can make each day significantly different. Typically, a large part of my day is spent in meetings, as I’m constantly engaging with both customers and my own sales team. Even though I am frequently travelling for work commitments, I have a strong routine to structure each day around. I usually aim for an early start to the workday and, ideally, I finish the day with an evening swim. If you could come up with a more accurate job title for your role, what would it be? Creative problem solver and point of contact for healthcare customers What do you enjoy most about the work you do? I enjoy motivating my team to hit our sales targets, and I get to play a strategic role in the company’s sales process. For me, the best part is travelling and meeting people from different walks of life and varying backgrounds. In the world of diagnostics, what future developments are you most excited about? I am particularly excited about the areas of gene therapy, stem cells and regenerative medicine. This is clearly the future of medicine, and I will be watching these areas with great anticipation! What values drive you? Being nice, genuine, kind and generous – these are key to an enjoyable and successful career and workplace. The authenticity that results from these attributes makes me a strong leader of the talented sales team, but also helps me to demonstrate enthusiasm and compassion when communicating with customers. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not in work? Outside of work, I enjoy blasting the cobwebs away with swimming, walking and travelling. Finally just for fun, if you could be any superhero, who would it be and why? Spiderman – who doesn’t want to scale skyscrapers! |
